Judah & the Lion

Joel Voorman

Judah & the Lion are hitting the road for their biggest headlining tour to date in support of their 2019 release, ‘Pep Talks.’

The band is comprised of Judah Akers (vocals, guitar), Brian Macdonald (mandolin, vocals), and Nate Zuercher (banjo, vocals). (Macdonald nor Zuercher are lions, making the band’s name a bit deceiving!)

Judah & the Lion first made a BIG splash with their smash single, “Take It All Back” in 2016. The single earned Gold certification. The group has since released two other top-10 singles, “Suit and Jacket” and “Over My Head.”

‘Pep Talk’‘s 17 songs explore difficult thematic elements such as divorce (“pictures feat. Kacey Musgraves”) and alcoholism (“Queen Songs / human.”) intermixed with tracks covering lighter topics such as “GoofBallerz” and “sportz.”

The band wrote that their music has the “grit of Run DMC or Beastie Boys” but played on folk instruments. MacDonald said he was influenced by Kendrick Lamar and the Beatles.

Flora Cash will open the show!
