Godsmack / Breaking Benjamin

Joel Voorman

To date, Godsmack have notched a staggering now seven number one singles on both the Billboard Mainstream & Active Rock Chart, including “Awake,” “Straight Out of Line,” “Cryin’ Like A Bitch,” and “I Stand Alone.” Moreover, they’ve enjoyed 21 Top 10 hits at the format—the most of any act since February 1999 as well as four Grammy nominations, and winner of Billboard Music Awards Rock Artist of the Year in 2001. Selling over 20 million records worldwide, the band has also unleashed three consecutive albums at #1 on the Billboard Top 200—namely ‘Faceless’ [2003], ‘IV’ [2006], and ‘The Oracle’ [2010]. This places them in league with Van Halen, U2, Metallica, Dave Matthews Band, and Linkin Park who have also enjoyed the same streak. Moreover, the accomplishment on the road remains staggering with headlining sets everywhere from Mayhem and UPROAR to Rock on the Range.

Since its inception, Godsmack has toured on Ozzfest on more than one occasion, and has toured with many other large tours and festivals, including supporting its albums with its own arena tours. In honor of the band’s success and the release of their sixth studio album, ‘1000hp’ (2014), Mayor Marty Walsh has declared August 6 as “Godsmack Day” in the city of Boston.

Over the past decade Breaking Benjamin has amassed a sizeable and diehard fan base, both through their chart-topping music, as well as their electrifying live performances. Their discography includes 2002’s Saturate, 2004’s ‘We Are Not Alone,’ 2006’s ‘Phobia,’ and 2009’s ‘Dear Agony.’ The second two—‘We Are Not Alone’ and ‘Phobia’—yielded spectacular results with each being certified Platinum. ‘We Are Not Alone’ spawned a pair of No. 1 radio hits (“So Cold” and “Sooner Or Later”) and sold 2.3 million units (albums and digital tracks). ‘Phobia’ debuted at No. 2 on Billboard’s Top 200, hit No. 1 on the Rock Album Chart and was one of the top 50 selling rock albums of 2006. It featured one No. 1 and two Top 5 rock radio hits (“Breath,” “Diary of Jane” and “Until The End”) and sold 2.8 million units (albums and digital tracks). 2009’s ‘Dear Agony’ debuted #4 on the Billboard Top 200 chart on one of the busiest release days of the year and #1 on the iTunes Rock Album Chart. ‘Dear Agony‘ also spun off the platinum selling and #1 song Active Rock single “I Will Not Bow” where it stayed #1 for five weeks straight while the album itself was certified Gold, selling over 500K copies. Known for their incendiary live performances, Breaking Benjamin returned to the road earlier this year with a sold out club tour, U.S. headline dates and performances at this year’s biggest rock festivals including Rock on the Range, Carolina Rebellion and Rocklahoma!

Breaking Benjamin is currently on tour in support of their new studio album, ‘Dark Before Dawn’ (07.23.15; Hollywood Records). It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, the group’s first in their catalog, selling 141,000 units in its first week, making it heretofore the group’s most successful sales effort. The album’s lead single is “Failure,” which was announced alongside the album on March 18, 2015.
