Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood is back on the road for her ‘Cry Pretty Tour,’ which stops at the completely renovated Rocket Mortgage Field House in Cleveland, OH on Wednesday, October 16.  Underwood’s 360 stage amazes, featuring an incredible hydraulic system that lifts up nearly half the stage.  The 360-degree stage (used on her last tour) maximizes the viewing for the audience.  This hydraulic version can raise the stage to improve site lines for much of the crowd.

Cry Pretty” is a song co-written and recorded by Underwood. It was released on April 11, 2018, as the lead single from her sixth studio album of the same name.  In Underwood’s own words “The title refers to when emotions take over and you just can’t hold them back.”

The show will also feature huge video screens that in part are used to transpose Underwood into various scenes to complement the theme of the song she is performing.  And since it would be nearly impossible for Underwood to perform all of her his songs she will be incorporating a medley of many of her earlier hits that help catapult her into the superstar she has become.

Dubbed as ‘Stories in the Round,’ seating will be, you guessed it, in the round.

Rollingstonecountry.com praised “the in-the-round setting provides each concertgoer with the best experience possible. Simpler still is the storytelling aspect of the show and country music’s reliance on conveying memorable stories in song.” The Boston Globe stated, Underwood “demonstrated that she now truly can stare unflinchingly into those lights and dominate a stage, with a confidence, defiance, and a sense of ownership that have been a treat to watch come to fruition. A rock-solid, deftly sequenced hour-and-45-minute long set, which moved from playful to solemn, smooth to twangy, and from cinematic scope to smaller, intimate moments. The most stunning part of the production, however, remains Underwood’s voice, strong and nuanced.”

Underwood’s achievements led her to be inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 2008 and into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in 2009. She has won numerous music awards, including 7 Grammy Awards, 17 Billboard Music Awards, 12 Academy of Country Music Awards and 9 American Music Awards.

Her debut album, ‘Some Hearts,’ was released in 2005. Bolstered by the huge crossover success of the singles “Jesus, Take the Wheel” and “Before He Cheats,” it became the fastest-selling debut country album in Nielsen SoundScan history, the best-selling solo female debut album in country music history and the best-selling country album of the last ten years. Underwood won three Grammy Awards for the album, including Best New Artist.

Her previous album, ‘Storyteller’(2015), made her the only country artist to have all first five studio albums reach either numbers one or two on the Billboard 200. She has sold more than 65 million records worldwide.

Opening for this all-female show will be Maddie & Tae and Runaway June.  Maddie & Tae, (Madison Marlow and Taylor Dye) will be the first opener.  They have been performing since 2010 releasing their first album “Start Here” in 2015 featuring their first single “Girl in a Country Song”

Second opener is Runaway June (consisting of Naomi Cooke, Hannah Mulholland, and Jennifer Wayne) have been together since 2016 and have hits like “Lipstick” and “Buy My Own Drinks.”  Runaway June was nominated for an Academy of Country Music Award for Best New Vocal Group in 2018.
