Do you like pop? Do you like soul? Do you like rock? Did you never like disco? If so, you have something in common with Everclear! The Art Alexakis fronted band is returning to the road and includes a tour stop at The Agora in Cleveland on May 30!
Everclear is celebrating the 20th anniversary of their multi-platinum album, ‘So Much For The Afterglow.’ Everclear will perform the entire the album, including hit songs “Everything to Everyone,” “I Will Buy You a New Life,” “Father of Mine,” “So Much For the Afterglow,” and “One Hit Wonder,” along with tracks from the rest of the band’s extensive discography.
‘So Much For The Afterglow’ is the soundtrack to this preview writer’s (and many, many others his age) formative years. It truly is one of the greatest records released in the 90’s.
On the upcoming tour, Alexakis shares: “It’s hard to believe we made this record 20 years ago. Even though I’m in a different place now than the guy who first wrote and sang these songs, and even though faces, voices, and relationships change, the songs still feel relevant and vital every time we play them live. I can’t wait to play the whole record for the first time with the guys in Everclear now. It’s going to be awesome!”
For over two decades, Everclear’s sound has reflected the rock, post-punk, and singer/songwriter influences of Alexakis, including acts like X, the Replacements, the Pixies, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, and Elvis Costello. The band found success with their first three albums on Capitol Records, ‘Sparkle and Fade,’ ‘So Much for the Afterglow,’ and ‘Songs from an American Movie Vol. One: Learning How to Smile,’ which were all certified platinum.
Former 90s-2000s pop-outfit Vertical Horizon are also on the bill! The band is best known for their 1999 album, ‘Everything You Want.’ Their hits included “Everything You Want,” “You’re a God,” and “Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning).”
“Everything You Want” captured the #1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 and Adult Top 40 charts, and became Billboard’s Most Played Single of 2000. Having carved out a page in the annals of music history the band garnered further radio attention. In 2005, “Best I Ever Had” became a top 20 country hit for country star Gary Allan.
In the fall of 2013 Vertical Horizon released their latest album, ‘Echoes From The Underground.’ The title of the album is a lyric from the song “Evermore.” It captures recurring themes throughout the record, such as an emotional and physical distance, as well as the often-hidden layers of emotion that exist within relationships
Fastball will round out the bill! With nearly 20 years of musical explorations and milestones under its belt, Fastball remains one of the most consistent and continuously celebrated rock bands on the road these days. After rising to prominence in 1996 with the debut disc ‘Make Your Mama Proud,’ the Austin, Texas-based trio exploded into a household name come 1998’s breakthrough project ‘All the Pain Money Can Buy,’ which featured the smash hit “The Way.”
Machine Gun Kelly and Fifth Harmony solo star Camila Cabello interpolates Fastball’s “Out of My Head” on the chorus to their new collaboration “Bad Things,” which has recently brought the band back into the spotlight!
In an effort to address a critical charitable need, Everclear will be donating $1 per ticket sold at each show to Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, an organization that provides financial assistance to career musicians, venue workers, production staff, crew members, and their families suffering from injury, illness or disability.
General admission tickets are priced at $25 in advance. Price subject to additional fees! Opera box & Suite tickets ($85 each), VIP Package ($99) and meet & greet package ($150) are also available. Ticket can be purchased in person at The Agora box office or online, below:
